BLESSINGS IN DISGUISE

Some people say that Friday the 13th is an unlucky day, however I would like to disagree! I think that with hard work and dedication you can actually create your own luck. Even if you are struck by an ‘unlucky’ circumstance, it may be just the challenge you need to get stronger within yourself. Therefore I like to see lucky and unlucky situations as blessings in disguise!

This year on Friday 13th November 2015, I had the ‘lucky’ opportunity to perform yoga on stage at Wembley Stadium to an audience of 60,000 people. Wembley Stadium played host to the UK Welcomes Modi event which showcased British Indian talent from dancers, singers and of course yoga performers. To be part of such an epic event felt like a dream come true.

It was through the Art of Living who approached me to take part and help with the coordination of the yoga performance that the journey started less than four weeks ago! Since then we have been working hard reharsing and preparing for the event.

You can watch our the yoga performance below and I hope to be receiving more professional clips of the full performance soon!

Part 2

As well as performing on stage I also met the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom David Cameron and his wife Samantha Cameron along with the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi (I’m the one in white in the pictures below).

To be in the energy and space of two influential leaders was a great honour. I have admired PM Modi’s initiative to spread the awareness of yoga and his efforts of creating the International Day of Yoga which was celebrated for the first time this year on the 21st June.

Rather than feeling ‘lucky’ I actually feel incredibly blessed. To take part in this event and to meet the two PM’s wasn’t luck but it has actually been a journey of discipline and dedication to the form of yoga.

The experience was amazing and it has taken me a few days to come back down to earth again! I’m looking forward to returning back to my normal class schedule this week and doing the grounded work of teaching yoga to you all. Without you I would not have been able to achieve all that I did on Friday and I hope that I can spread the incredible blessings of yoga into all your lives too!
