NAMASTE

‘Nama’ means to bow, ‘as’ means I and ‘te’ means you. This can be translated as ‘I bow to you’ or ‘The Divine in me honours the Divine in you’.

Namaste is a beautiful Sanskrit word with a lovely definition as described above. It is also a common word used at the end of a yoga class. I have rarely used the term myself, as I tend to only teach a pose, practice, technique or word when I am familiar with it through my own daily home yoga routine. However recently I have been using the word Namaste to close my yoga and meditation practice and I have felt a deep sense of warmth in my heart and understanding for the word. Therefore I hope to introduce this term into my classes. If you feel the resonance of Namaste within your heart too then please join me. If not then a gentle acknowledgement and gratitude of each other is always just enough
